The Newborn Area Heritage Trust, Inc. (NAHT) is a nonprofit 501 C(3) organization operated by a volunteer Board of Trustees dedicated to the preservation of the Historic Newborn Schoolhouse as a Community Center in Newborn, Georgia.  We meet at the schoolhouse or local restaurants to discuss business, plan events, and review concerns about the building; all are welcome to attend. The NAHT was formed in 1987 by concerned citizens who were shocked at the state of disrepair of this building.  The building is owned by the Town of Newborn and is maintained in partnership with the NAHT.  We have come a long, long way from the old broken-down schoolhouse with the collapsed roof to the refurbished air—conditioned new Community Center.  We’ve stabilized the building and preserved the charming period feel of the building but there remains more to be done.

Through private grants, donations, fund-raisers and functions, over $160,000 has been spent to bring the building to its present state.  Currently our budget is supplemented by rentals of the building for a variety of uses such as Gospel sings, church services, family reunions, weddings and receptions as well as private parties.
